SCIENCE ON TAP – Insect Biomimicry

Biomimicry, or Biomimetics, is an approach to engineering that uses nature’s tried-and-true design solutions to solve complex human challenges. The goal of Biomimicry is to construct products, create systems, and inspire ways of living that emulate the patterns and processes of nature that have been fine-tuned by evolution over millions of years. As the most diverse group of organisms on the planet, insects, along with other arthropods like spiders, can serve as useful models for solving a wide variety of problems faced by humans today.

Rachel Neff is a KU graduate student in Ecology and Evolutionary Biology who studies aquatic beetle evolution and has a keen passion for communicating fascinating science to the public. Join us for this virtual Science On Tap and learn how insects and spiders are inspiring creative solutions to some of our world’s biggest problems.

TRIVIA NIGHT RETURNS TO THE PUB

Trivia Night has returned to the Pub every Tuesday evening. The fun begins at 7pm. But, with distancing, there will be limited capacity, and there is a maximum of 6 people per table. Reservations are encouraged.
